Imamu Frazier

Originally from Texas, Imamu grew up in and around the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. When Imamu was 12 years old, he received a Commodore VIC 20 for Christmas. This sparked his love of computing and technology. He spent countless hours teaching himself BASIC (a programming language) and reading everything he could find on computing. His fascination with technology really took off when his parents took him to see the film, War Games. Imamu did odd jobs around the neighborhood to make money to purchase a modem. With the purchase of that modem, a whole new world opened up to him. Imamu began to frequent many of the most popular bulletin boards of the time and found many other technology enthusiasts willing to teach, and be taught themselves.

Imamu was a Data Processing Technician for the United States Navy. While he served, the Department of Defense was beginning to recognize the importance of building networks for ship communication. During this period, he was exposed to a wealth of new, advanced computing and communications technology and when the Navy combined the Data Processing Tech and Radioman job specialties, Imamu became one of the first Information Technology Specialists in the Navy.

He received a Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Navy, Imamu moved back to his home state of Texas and began work for a small telecommunications company as an assistant network administrator. It was enjoyable work, but Imamu longed to pursue his dream of world travel, originally nurtured during his time traveling to various countries while in the Navy. He packed up his laptop and camera and set off to see the world. After visiting several countries in Asia, Imamu accepted a position as a contract employee for the Department of Defense. During this period he met his wife, and after 2 years living in Japan, he and his wife moved to Seattle, Washington.

Currently, Imamu attends Bellevue College where his goal is to complete requirements to transfer to UW-Bothell. After transfer to UW-Bothell, his intentions are to major in Biology, and ultimately be accepted into an MD/PhD program at a major university. Imamu currently works as an ERP system administrator. In his free time Imamu likes to draw, read, and play video games.
