IT 119: Web Page Design & Development

Overview: HTML/XHTML introduces the student to the language of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Extensible Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML), Cascading Styles Sheets (CSS), and Javascript and JQuery for creating web-formed Web pages that are compliant with current Web standards. Students will create, publish, test, and maintain Web pages using markup languages, style sheets, and scripting languages.

Learning Outcomes:

• Understand HTML, CSS, and other Web design technologies
• Create a Web Page with HTML/XHTML
• Add hyperlinks to a Web page
• Design a Web Page, including the use of CSS, JQuery
• Design a Web page with Tables
• Use Frames in a Web site
• Create Web page forms
• Javascript and introduction to JQuery
• Work with Cascading Style Sheets
• Create a multimedia Web page
• Create a HTML/XHTML Web site
• Publish an HTML/XHTML Web site
• Understand the role of content management systems

By the end of the course, the student may be able to:

• Develop structured valid HTML pages
• Format web pages with valid CSS and CSS box nodesl
• Layout pages with CSS and HTML 5 elements
• Create HTML tables, forms and add scripts
